Why did aboriginal tribes use body paint?

?Why did aboriginal tribes use body paint?
i saw on a documentary that they do that to attract the opposite sex.Why did aboriginal tribes use body paint?
Aboriginal body painting is an old tradition that has been carried out for thousands of years. They used different body paintings during the spiritual celebrations, depending on the beliefs of the tribe. Also They were a means of communication - they showed what age and status the person had and what relationship the person had to his/her family group. Once they have been painted they couldn't change it, and they couldn't paint themselves it was a job of a family member.
Here's a couple places to look.
