Is it possible for a paint and body shop to remove touch up paint and fix the scratches?

I tried to use touch up paint to fix scraches on my car and now it looks even worse. The colors do not match well and it stands ourt worst than the orginal scratches. Is it possible for a paint and body shop to remove the paint and maybe try to buff or fix the scratches? ThanksIs it possible for a paint and body shop to remove touch up paint and fix the scratches?

touch up paint is real trickey and sounds to me like new paint job is in order--- buffing out won't cure your problem ....

Yes, it is possible that is if not scratched too deep. It might be more expensive than you had planned ...Have you checked with your ins ? Or is that not a possible mode of action.
you can buff out the touch up paint but it depends on how deep and wide the scratches are.On my car the paint is a little faded so it took me a wile to find a paint color that mached it. I used a touch up pen which is better than a small brush. A touch up pen will allow you to exactly follow the scratches. After I filled in all the scratches on my car I then buffed out the paint job and gave my car a good wax cote.Now my car looks almost new. You have to look very close to the paint the see any of the scratches.Also if you dont have a buffing wheel than you can try this technique that I used on my car before I buffed it. The first thing you need to do is get some armoral interior spray (original) then you need to get armoral gel wax. Next is to wash your car realy good and dry it. Now after the car is dry take a soft cloth and spray the interior spray on the cloth and go over the whole car keeping the cloth damp but not wet with the interor spray. after that now take another soft cloth and dampen it with a little water and put a small amount of wax gel on the cloth. Now use a circular motion and wipe the wax into the paint do this until the wax has covered to body panel completely then after you are done than repeat this step on the other body panels. This sounds crazy but it works very well and it will hide a lot of small scraches and some large ones, plus it will bring out the clear cotes shine. You just have to keep doing this every two mounths and your car will look like new. It will even work on faded trim and molding.

while removing the fiberglass cap on my nissan truck years ago, it had slipped out of my hands and remove the paint at the top edge of the bed for about 12';.


i dabbed in the touch paint, let it dry, dabbed in, let dry, dabbed, dry, etc,etc. till the area was filled in. i then wetsanded it with 1200 grit sandpaper, after it was smooth, i blended the paint all in with some more touch paint and an airbrush. the color was 1995 nissan anthracite grey metallic (grey and metallic not an easy color to match).


after the airbrush paint was dried, i buffed it out. couldnt even tell it was fixed.
It will come off. If the scratches were deep, it will require repainting the area. if there is a lot of them, you will be better repainting the car.
i own a repair and restoration shop,and they will probably have to re-paint the area where the scratches are,they cant just repair the scratches and paint or buff that area out on it,,if its a door it will have to be re-sprayed,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
