I'd use acrylic, that way if you sweat or get rained on it won't all wash off, like generic craft paint would. You can actually buy acrylic paint in the craft section at Wal-Mart. Try Hobby Lobby or Michael's if you can't find it there.
you might want to try an ADULT store, they stock things such as this. You need a paint that won't do harm to your skin or your respiratory system. They have it, and it comes in all colors. Hope this helps.
